We look forward to seeing the success of these doers...
- Inspiration Mars - a 501 day round trip for two fly-by of mars then returning safely to earth will silence many of the naysayers arguments. It truly will be inspirational.
- Mars One - I like it a lot but it does have faults. Can they really raise enough money? Is it a suicide mission depending on life support systems that can only be replaced from earth (assuming they can't be repaired on mars?) Lansdorp doesn't agree with history (or 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress') regarding property ownership. Does he mean to create a new class of slaves? One of the best things he's done so far is give us a metric of how many people would be interested in going one way to live on mars. Real data beats imagined every time.
Along with many other links to be added...
- Bigelow Aerospace - Taking NASA science and running with it. Bigelow alone could afford his own privately financed mars mission. He has two demonstration modules orbiting the earth today. The fact is that someday he will put habitat modules in orbit even if it's not his Alpha station (note expansion module of I.S.S.) We just need to be patient.
- Blue Origin - New Shepard lander, Jeff Bezos of Amazon. Yup, another billionaire.
- SpaceX - Seeing them answer the naysayers over the years has been a real pleasure. Elon is another that could privately finance a mission and has stated he would like to die on mars ("just not on impact.")
- The Mars Society - Zubrin and company have shown much of the way with 'Case for Mars' and field research into human factors. A great reference site with more material than is easily discovered.
There are many more which I will add as I have time. Such as...
- Potential future cheap fuel sources: PR and DSI.
